xAdvice about what to eat at an indian restaurant?
There are so many foods from India..
I m going to suggest this website below as a primer.
Then you can browse through and familiarize yourself with all the options, and then you will be ready when the menu comes.
I find the appetizers are enough for a meal,
and sometimes if we go out, we all get appetizers and share.
One of our favorite appetizers is Samosa.
It is a dumpling, usually they come 2 or 3 to the order.
It has potatoes and peas in it. Tender.
Naan is a bread, you can tear it off and dip it in stuff, or use it as a scoop for your rice, etc...
So that would be carbs if you are not wanting that...
Lassi is a yogurt drink, and it is really creamy, so stay away from that because it s not low calorie.
It s like a yummy dessert drink.
Chai tea is excellent, but it usually comes with cream in it, so you probably don t want that.
There are lots of meat options, I ndia is not just vegetarian, however, they do offer lots of vegetarian dishes.
Some of the dishes are verrry spicy... if you like that, do a
biryani.
Most India restaurants I have been to have adescription of the dish and the sauce it s in, so you can peruse down the menu and notice what is a cream sauce( higher fat%26amp;calorie content)
it will say if it is fried
An appetizer is usually a smaller quantity of food, so even if it is fried or in some sauce, there is less of it, so maybe consider that.
I suggest this website below, it has pictures and everything, a quick primer for you.
Good job trying new things!
It will probably smell good there, and have colorful wall hangings, lovely.. and it may have a coriander or caraway or anise seed bowl at the end of the meal..helps digestion, and freshens breath.
You thank for the nourishment and then take a few to crunch.
If it is anise seed, don t take too many.
Licorice is a natural vomiting agent.
That will be a bad ending to the night.
Be well! Have fun! Good memories!
ha...good luck.
Like the other posters said tandoori chicken or maybe Dal soup(at least its nutritious).
Everything has butter or cream in it even the saag which is a spinach dish.
Not the best choice of cuisine when you're on a diet.
You want to go for a tandoori style food, something that is dry that comes with salad. Steer clear of the rice, nan breads and popadums. Tandoori style food is marinated meet cooked in a clay oven with no sauce.
Masala is one of the highest caloried foods you could go for.
Maybe this will help

chicken tikka..not the curry..the one where chicken is baked in the oven have with a salad mint and yoghurt sauce ansd say one chappati
not chicken tikka masala very fattening just tandori chicken or chicken tikka ask in the restaurant
Dry tandoori chicken or a chicken with a less creamy sauce such as the tomato based rogan josh sauce.
Don't go for the curries, they have a bit of fat.
Go for tandori chicken and an salad it is slightly healthier
Chicken tikka with no sauce and boiled rice.
chicken tikka masala!
Fish and chips.
Punjab eggplant and spinach dal are my faves.
