I have mice in my loft-space,. how should I place the traps, WHERE should I place them, and lastly, I am unable to afford getting any pest control people to sort it. Plus there doesn't YET appear to be any major problem with the numbers of mice as there's only the rare noise coming from the loft. What is the best advice you can give to me about catching mice with old 'snap-shut', tension loaded traps?
Choclate never fales good luckWhat is the best advice you can give to me about catching mice with old 'snap-shut', tension loaded traps?
Put poison down thats the quickest way .
place peanuts in the trap they simply adore them ( for an instant )
best advice, keep your fingers clear of the snapper
Place them around the perimeter walls with the tripper next to the wall. No need for bait. They'll run into them every time.
The best thing is the ';candybar';. Get it at the hardware store. Get the yellow one. Mice can't resist it. It will make them go away. It IS the ';better mousetrap';
mice always run against the wall so I would put the trap along the wall or joist, with the back of the trap against the wall, so that when the mouse is running along the wall, the trap is in his way.
Mars bar works a treat.
i agree chocolate is best to set traps, close to walls, don't poison they will go to an inaccessible place to die and the last thing you need is decomposing mice where you can't find them.
Get yourself a Tom Cat; buy the large bags of dry cat food at walmart; then, let the cat furnish his own meat......the mice.
Load them with peanut butter. Don't set them all at once, that way you'll catch them off guard! You might want to find the nest that way you won't have another crop in the summer.
Use peanut putter as bait . place alongside walls near corners
If you have pets or kids make some peanut butter cookies and use a lot of baking powder in them as a dog or cat can pass gas but the rodents cannot . this will give them a bad stomache ach and will go
This is non toxic to kids and pets except hamsters and gerbils and rabbits
The local council will come out and place poison in the roof the poison they use makes the mice thirsty and go looking for water so they go out and die outside. So no decomposing bodies
set the traps with cheese use at least 6 ....set them anywhere ..the mice will find them ..get the traps where a section of the trap floor lifts up to set trap ..your problem will soon be gone
A small bit of chocolate on the trap spike is a good treat for them! Put your traps around the edges of your loft as mice like to keep close to things like walls and roof trusses so they can hide quickly. Other than that you can get mouse poison in little trays from your local hardware store.
I use peanut butter mushed up in white bread so it holds on trap. place the trap so bait is toward a wall where they frequently walk by. you can tell where they been by the droppings. object is to get there attention on the bait before they get anywhere else.
mind your fingers!!
i baited it with a piece of cheese about the size of your finger nail or i sometimes used peanut butter--i think cheese is better. set the trap next to a base board--sometime i'd put it between the frig. and wall. they work good however you can buy some de-con [not expensive]--put out a couple of boxes--they eat it and then run off and die but leave no smell--you may only need one box.---dont put box where there might be children or pets.---the box is small
