Anybody else writing a novel? How's it going? Any advice about getting an honest agent?

I am in the revision stage of the novel I've been working on for the last three years. Ever since getting DSL hooked up, I've been surfing the Net (doing things like spending hours at a time HERE) when I should be writing.

Some days it seems so close to being done. Other days I know it will never be over - but that's okay because I'm writing a bunch of cr*p that will never be publishable anyway.

The best resource I know when searching out agents is Preditors %26amp; Editors (spelling is intentional.) They have a whole searchable directory of hundreds of agents. The site lets you know which agents they recommend, which are reputable and which to run away screaming from.Anybody else writing a novel? How's it going? Any advice about getting an honest agent?
Thanks, i needed that too. It's better than losing five points to post the question myself. I'm an unpolished, beginner writer and nothing I have ever written is over seven pages typed. One of these days I'll actually write something...

I didn't think of it when I posted my answer, but the anonymous literary agent Miss Snark has an awesome blog too. Check it out if you're having trouble sorting through all the dos and don'ts of submitting.

well its pretty hard to get an honest agent but in a way its pretty easy as well sooo anyway if you want to get an honest agent look onto http://uk.careers.yahoo.com/ because it could be on there.
i can't write. im dumb. tnx for the 2 points
Not writing a novel but a bit of advice. Make sure you have proof that the ideas that you are using are your own. Write a summary of what your book is about, include everything you want to, then post it to yourself, don't open the envelope when you receive it, you then have the date (postmarks include dates in the UK)and the proof that it's your work if anyone tries to steal your rights as the author. Good luck and I wish you every success.
Yes. It's not going at all, all I do these days is write down ideas. So many ideas I'll have to write several books. Damn. At least I don't have creative problems :)
I am attempting to and it's going VERY slowly ! :) It's difficult to keep everything accurate and congruent when you're writing over a longer period of time.

As for an agent, I haven't even attempted that yet. Good luck to you !
