I am a scaffolder (have been for 12 years) and looking to move into health %26amp; safety. Has anyone any advice they can offer me please, either on this course, or job roles once I have attained it?Has anyone any advice about the NEBOSH Health %26amp; Safety Contruction Certificate?
Well her is a bit of advice for you. I have got my NEBOSH by the way.

We are all used to using a computer for writing everything these days. And we very rarely WRITE much with a pencil or pen any more. But for the NEBOSH exams, you have to be able to write quickly and legibly, and you will develop surprisingly sore hands doing this. It is actually quite strenuous because you have a time limit for the exams of course. So you have to practice writing LEGIBLY and quickly. It's surprising how many people can not do this nowadays.

The courses themselves are fairly straightforward to any one with a bit of common sense who has been in the workplace. All you have to do is retain the information in your head, then spout it out at the exam. There was a wee lassie on our course who was straight from University, who knew NOTHING about any form of work yet sailed through.

Job opportunities, well the North Sea is full of ';scaffies turned safety Officers';. It 's a well worn path . Can't speak about other industries of course. But you don't meet many unemployed safety officers, I know THAT.

Best of luck Mate. And remember, your brain is just another muscle. If you don't use it,. you lose it.Has anyone any advice about the NEBOSH Health %26amp; Safety Contruction Certificate?
Well, your NEBOSH General Certificate in health and safety is your first port of call. If your husband has been in the construction industry for 12 years then I'm sure his built up some good basic health and safety knowledge already. He probably did some courses provided by his employers so it shouldn't be a problem for him. The General Certificate is quite easy but you do need to be a good communicator in writing when it comes to the theory on the course. The exam has three parts, a practical and two theory exams. The practical exam is abut carrying out an inspection in a workplace. Theory exam 1 is about health and safety management, exam 2 is more logical, common sense theoretical paper (and this one is quite easy). The inspection is the best one because you can spot lots of problems, then you have to write down what you found and how you want it corrected. Once he's got this course under his belt he can then apply for jobs. The job is ok but there's a lot of office politics he would have to put up with. Wish him good luck!
