Advice about weaning a kitten?

Hi all,

My cat had a kitten over the easter weekend. The little thing is eating solids and has been de-wormed and inoculated. Her mom has also been spayed since. Anyway the little thing is 3 months old but still goes and suckles on mom from time to time. Is this OK? When should she stop and should I separate her from her mom if she wont?Advice about weaning a kitten?
Hello fellow cat person,

If the kitten isn't doing it very often I wouldn't worry. It probably just finds it comforting. Usually mother animals do a pretty good job at weaning their young so when the mother cat tires of it she will push it away. I'm so glad that you had the mother spayed. Very responsible of you.Advice about weaning a kitten?
My cats usually stop at 2 months. After that I give them some boneless and lean boiled meat with no flavorings. Having flavorings might get them really thirsty and dehydrated. They love it! Now all they want is meat but then you'll have to cut back on meat and give them cat food. And if they are teething, give them some dried cat food so that it can satisfy their teeth and not nibble on everything. And it helps not get the mother cat less stressed or hungry.
Suckling this long is dragging down the Mama kitty physically. Give her some baby kitty formula mixed with canned cat food once a day and separate her from her mom for a few days. I know this is a large inconvenience but for Moms own good I would do it. Don't give her cows milk please as cats don't digest that very well.
you really shouldn't be allowing the kitten to suckle on her mom now cause she could get an infection in her teats which is known as mastitis..you should feed the kitten in a separate room to her mother and dont let her go on the teat no more..
try giving her wet food
