Humidity
More homework than you ever imagined possible.
Biscuits %26amp; Gravy
Sweet Tea
BBQ
Like any big city - Be smart and learn the area where you can travel alone and the ones you can't.
Where are you moving from? I moved here from NY and I never seen so many car wrecks before. If your moving here for the men, honey pick another city. These men thinks all women are desperate for a man. They come to you half ***, and that you should be grateful with what have. There is alot to do (clubs, events, shopping) Good luck
if you're from the north it'll be a drastic change- it's warmer and greener, but you have to drive everywhere, and things are VERY spread out. if you're from houston or something that may not bother you. housing is very affordable and jobs in certain areas are plenty. it might be a fun place for singles but probably not the best place to find a mate. also, people are very big on appearance here- nice cars, clothes, etc, so if that's not your thing, it might be annoying. and just about everyone's in a sorority or fraternity, especially blacks so if you're not already in a sorority you might want to join
Well Atlanta is definatey is a great decision.
It is one of the top cities in the country for young black (and minority) professionals male and female. So job searching and success are what you make of it. Coming from the north there were many cultural differrences for me. Accents, lots and lots of trees everywhere, and lots of dread locks. The city and the metro are really spread out, Which makes for longer commutes and horrible traffic. I suggest you find a place ';Inside the Perimeter ( I-285)'; closer to the city, to escape traffic fleeing to the suburbs after work ( more and more people are moving into the city, so naturally, prices on housing are on the rise) But, living closer to the city you will be closer to Downtown, Midtown, Buckhead, and Atlantic Station. These are areas where you find resturants, clubs, lounges and shopping- Oh yea gold teeth, flashy cars and sunglasses at night, and not to mention Dreadz. Keep in mind it a relatively big city with big city problems- Traffic, crime (southside, westend). But its a prgressive city rapidly getting better. Im proud to be apart of an advancing city. I'll see you around.
It would help If I knew where you were moving from so I could tell you about the changes, and it wold also help If i knew if you were considering moving to the subburbs or the city, but i know it's suitable for a single woman if you move to the subburbs. I can't tell you about Clark atlanta University because that's not where I went to school.
Wherever you get a job or are attending school, look for a place to live nearby.... Traffic is horrific during rush hour. It gets hot here in the summer... and the pollen is horrible from the end of March til the beginning of May (it will affect you whether you have allergies or not). On the up side there is always plenty to do here in Atlanta. We have major sport teams, plenty of festivals, concerts, great restaurants, we have some great parks, museums, lots of bars, and the list could go on and on. I'm a single woman and I love Atlanta!
