I need advice about studying abroad?

I am planning on going to the UK to study political science in Spring 2008. Please help me with these issues:

-how much money will I need if I'm planning on staying from january through august?

- what are your opinions on any of the following universities:

University of Central Lancashire

University of Huddersfield

University of Plymouth

University of Strathclyde

University of Sunderland

University of Ulster

University of Bradford

University of Bristol

Kingston University

University Hull

University of Sheffield

University of Wales, Swansea

-any general advice on studying abroad in the uk or anywhere?I need advice about studying abroad?
i cant comment on the unis much except for Hull my daughter finished there 2 years ago, it has a very high number of foreign students particularly Chinese. Hull itself is not the most salubrious city, and uni rooms cost about 1200 per term this does not include fuel or food etc. just the room and they are pretty basic. from jan to august is two terms you will also need food and i think this will cost you a minimum of 拢50 a week. in general you will find the further north the uni the cheaper the accommodation. Bradford has a very high Asian community. if you want to know more about the unis they will all have web sites which will probably all tell you how much their accommodation is.I need advice about studying abroad?
Hi there -

I lived abroad for a semester in college in Valladolid, Spain. I did a homestay - so that reduced my costs quite a bit because my host family provided meals and room and board. England is VERY expensive (1 British pound = about $2)...so I suppose it depends on what you want to buy. I would suggest traveling as much as you can, which will also up the amount of spending money you should bring.

I would suggest doing a homestay - if possible. It gives you a lot more insight into the culture, you will get lifetime friends, and it's less expensive.

Hope this helps! :)
