Can anyone give me advice about A&R, promoting, selling business ideas, etc.? ?

I have recently moved to Hollywood in hopes of landing a career as a A%26amp;R Manager but it seems that although I have the talent and the education to do the job you MUST know someone in the industry to get you through the door. So does anyone have any advice for me?

Also, I have great themes for nightclubs and ideas for businesses how do I go about selling them or getting someone to invest in my business ideas? Can anyone give me advice about A%26amp;R, promoting, selling business ideas, etc.? ?
Well... I don't know anything about your field. But...

You're going to have to put yourself out there and establish yourself as an expert. First, read the top three books about your industry. Then, you're going to have to run down everyone that you know and find out who they know and meet them.

Get some business cards and start building a professional portfolio. You'll want to start handing out flyers and business cards to nightclubs about the services that you offer.

And for your portfolio, you need to find the addresses and phone numbers of as many television stations, radio stations, and newspapers within a 60 mile radius from your location. You may even have to go rural to get that first bit of attention.

Put together a brief, and I mean brief, report about what you do along with 20 or so interview questions about what you do. Start submiting that report with interview questions the most outlying rural newpapers on your list.

Within a few weeks there will be a slow news day and you will get a call. This may take a little while longer since you're in Hollywood.

But add every newspaper interview to your portfolio and report. And once your portfolio becomes more impressive you'll want to start submitting it to the bigger newspapers, radio stations, and finally local televsion stations.

You may also want to start volunteering to speak at colleges and schools about business and entrepreneurship. Add these speaking events to your portfolio. It will increase your odds of getting calls back and establish your credibility in your field. Plus, schools and colleges are great arenas of influence. You may bump into someone who can connect you with some influential people in your field.

Good Luck.
