I have a 1999 Chevy Blazer. It recently started leaking anti freeze and I was checking my oil this morning and found oil all over my motor. It seems to be running ok... but I was wondering if anyone new what could be wrong with it or how to fix it... any help would be greatly appreciatedCan anyone give me advice about my 99 Chevy Blazer?
well could be a few things....
First with it leaking anti-freeze. It might be the water pump? thermostat housing? Its kinda hard to really diagnose it without looking at it. You need to figure out where its leaking from first, before you can fix it.
As far as your oil leaking out, thats the same sorta thing. Your valve covers are probably leaking. but like i said its hard to really diagnose anything just from what you said.
I would recommend getting some engine cleaner (like gunk). While the engine is cold, spray it down real good with the cleaner and then wash it off so its clean...(put a rag or a bag over the distributor and the fuel injection) or if it has the whole air cleaner housing on it dont bother it should be fine.
Then now with it clean, run it around and check it again....its easier to pinpoint where it is leaking from, when its not ';everywhere';.
also check your engine oil and make sure it isnt a milky grey color....if it is, you have a blown head gasket.
Or just take it to a good mechanic......
Good luck!
PS......if you dont have any money..just make sure the oil and antifreeze are topped off every time you drive it...Can anyone give me advice about my 99 Chevy Blazer?
if it is cold where you are at i would say the antifreeze isn't rite maby just to hot and boiling over. and for the oil problem it could be a bad PVC valve. these get moisture and can freeze then block the ventilation flow of air and it will build up in motor and then blow the pressure out of every oil gasket you have
Antifreeze and oil leaks?
Have the intake gaskets checked by a reputable repair shop. The phenolic material in the original gaskets become brittle with age and crack, which may lead to both antifreeze and oil leaks from the gaskets.
